PopRina
Nurul'alam, a 26 years old lass is the founder of local girl's clothing, PopRina. Currently a Computer Science postgraduate student, she balances her days off of intensive robot-like thinking with getting in touch with her other passion which is to sew and create stuffs. Having grown up with grandmothers whom earned a living as crafters, it is natural for her to be extra curious about how to build or make things, do-it-yourself (DIY) way. High intensitiy (or minimal) electro music with buzzing sound of synths and all that inspires her to fashion design as fantasized at the back of her mind - there's always a different costume in different songs. She thinks that to dress sensibly and impressively is the way to behave as sensible; thus makes the world a more sensible place to live in. She wishes to learn mat weaving before she gets old.
PopRina has been around the scene since 2006. Paving its way by infusing local traditional elements of clothings into modern designs, it is not unusual if hints of traditional textiles like batik or songket, with a mix of embroidery is found in PopRina's items. PopRina is about reinventing and preserving simplicity in traditional designs suitable with energetic modern lifestyle. The brand's designs while sometimes might appear nostalgic, also more often than not, screamed "CULTURE!". At the time being, PopRina continues designing ready-to-wear clothes, as well as making customized tailored design by special customer request.
